Balance Does Not Exist, We Are Just Acrobats
The balancing strategy adopted by the human species is quite unique because we stand upright on only two supports. This posture, rather uncommon among vertebrates, forces us to manage a constant imbalance. To maintain balance while standing, there are two possible strategies: the forward strategy (Posterior Muscle Chain Dominant Athletes) and the backward strategy (Anterior Muscle Chain Dominant Athletes)
Each individual employs both strategies, but one is often used more frequently than the other, especially in a Baseball activity like Hitting, Throwing, Fielding & Baserunning. This default strategy is called “balance preference.”
In all aspects of the game of Baseball, it is very useful to know your preferred muscle chain. This ensures that the adopted posture aligns with how the body naturally balances itself and will be determinate your so-called ‘mechanics’.
